Huckleberry Picking

Today I would like to share with you a layout I created about huckleberry picking.  This was a big part of growing up in Northern Idaho and I still love to go today.  My daughter Hailey really wanted to make homemade jam.  Before she could start, we had to go pick the berries.  This is not always easy depending on the time of the year.  If it's too early in the season, you have to drive further up the mountain, and if it's too late in the season, they will all be picked over.  Going in Grandpa Earl's jeep is all part of the fun.  Hailey was able to gather enough berries (with the help of Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom) to make some freezer jam.  She was so excited to label those first jars.  The jam was yummy!

A little bit about the layout:  I looked for huckleberry paper or embellishments but couldn't find any, so I chose colors that reminded me of picking berries and the outdoors; purple, green, and brown.  I also used my favorite little jar stamp!

Boys in Trouble

I had a lot of fun with this page.  I found some old photos at my parents house and asked my Dad about them.  He told me the funniest story about when he was a kid.  There was a new car give-away in town and a group of mischievous boys (including himself) took a bunch of raffle tickets and threw them all over the road.  The police found out and made the sweep up the mess.

This is the time to sit down with your loved ones and get those stories documented. Otherwise, that may remain untold forever...

I wanted the title and journaling to feel like an old newspaper article. I went to the internet to find old newspapers and advertising as inspiration. I used a simple brush script front with specific words highlighted in red. Of course I needed to include "tickets" to help tell the story.

Beautiful Lake Chelan

I thought I would post this layout as a tribute to Lake Chelan.  There are active wild fires going on right now.  More than 100,000 acres have burned and many homes have been destroyed.  I really hope the beauty of this area is not all burned away.

Last summer my daughter Hailey and sister-in-law Jennifer spent the afternoon wine tasting.  It was so beautiful to see the grape vineyards against the majestic lake.

As I mentioned in a previous blog, I love the look of one big photo with more detailed photos anchoring it.  The smaller photos tell the story and convey the relationships and fun that we were having!

Follow Your Dream

Hailey recently graduated from Renton Technical College and officially started her new job today as a Medical Assistant.  I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished over the last couple of years.  Here is a layout I recently created to document a special day at school where the class learned how to put on a cast.
