Hailey Loves Minnie

Today I really wanted to create a Halloween layout.  As I was looking through the photos I found an adorable picture of Hailey dressed up like Minnie Mouse for a school Halloween party.  I remembered how much Hailey loved Minnie so I looked for the pictures of Hailey and Minnie at Disneyland and Disney World.  I didn't create the Halloween layout that I originally intended but I did create a fun layout remembering Hailey's love for Minnie.

All Boy

I am excited to share with you a layout featuring one of my adorable nephews, Spencer.  As you know most of my scrapbook pages are of my daughter Hailey.  It's fun to use some of those "boy" supplies from my scrapbook stash.

A Fabulous Fall Day

With fall all around us, I was inspired to create a layout using my "stash" of fall products. Since I was using some of my favorite photos on the layout, I wanted it to feel special.  I decided to hand stitch the title "Fabulous Fall Day".  It was time consuming but well worth the extra work.

Hand stitching is not as hard as it may seem, here are a few tips:
  • Select a title and print or hand write your words directly on your scrapbook paper.  If you have a digital program like Photoshop Elements, lower the opacity so that it doesn't print too dark.
  • Put your paper on a self healing mat before you begin to protect your surface.  Using a push pin, poke holes along the outline of the letters.  You can space the holes evenly to get a neat look, or go with the flow of the letter like I did below.  Some of my stitches are long and others are short.
  • Using an embroidery thread and needle, sew along the outline using the pre-poked holes as your guide to where your needle will go.  I am not a seamstress so I did the type of stitch that I learned in my high school Home Ec class, I think it's called a back-stitch.  There are many videos on YouTube that demonstrate hand stitching.  Have fun and don't worry about perfection!

The Color Run

Hi Friends,
It's been a while since I've posted.  After a fun weekend with my "scrapbook sisters", I have tons of new pages to share with you over the next several weeks.

Over the summer, I signed up for Big Picture Scrapbook classes (http://www.bigpictureclasses.com). It's an on-line site that has amazing classes from beginner to advanced.  My favorite was called Text Tricks taught by Pam Baldwin.  If you are a digital or hybrid scrapper or want to learn more about digital scrapbooking this class is for you.  Although I have been using Photoshop Elements for about 5 years now, I still consider myself a beginner.  In this class I learned how to create the Title of this Layout and match to the exact colors in the photo.

Here is a layout of my daughter Hailey and her friends at the Color Run.  Most of the photos were taken with Hailey's cell phone and with random people snapping the photos.  I love Hailey's transition from "perfectly primped" before the race to a "total mess" after the race. Very fun!
